Lions Lose 10-7 to Hampton Huskies in High School Football Playoff Action
Story by Courtney MacFawn
The Leo Hayes Varsity Lions finished their playoff action with a loss to the Hampton High School
Huskies in Hampton, NB. The final score of the game was a very close 10-7.
In this game, the bottom line was that the offensive line didn't play very well at all, and that
is what made the Lions lose the game. All together, there were six turnovers, which were basically
split between the offensive and defensive lines. During the game, the Lions had many chances to
score with field goals, but none were taken. There were many actions and plays that could
have been prevented, but were not.
The first touchdown of the day was scored during the first play of the game, and was scored by
the Huskies. The Lions rallied to get their first touchdown of the game, which was scored by Cody
Stewart, who caught a pass thrown by quarterback Derek Broad. The Lions were outwitted, however,
as Hampton managed to score another field goal, which turned out to be the winning three points
of the game. The Lions, unfortunately, were not able to rebound, and lost a very hard fought battle.
The Lions have had an exceptional season this year, especially having made it to playoffs.
The coaches are very proud of how well the team performed this season, and are hopeful
that Leo Hayes will have another exceptional season of football next year. Congrats Lions!
